Aeronautical Engineering Technology

The Fast Forward program in Aeronautical Engineering Technology is new this year. During the 2003 – 2004 academic year, Vermont Technical College in partnership with Burlington Technical Center and the Burlington International Airport created and approved this new associates degree. This degree offering will be available at the Vermont Technical College - Williston campus.

While there will be secondary age students enrolled in the program, the present FAA program is evaluated by A.C.E. for 67 credits. The present credentialing is a FAA licensing. Students will be expected to pass the licensing exam. Upon successful completion of the licensing exam, student will be awarded 15 Vermont Tech credits described in the curriculum.

 


Students seeking Admissions into Vermont Technical College are encouraged to take Algebra I & II, Geometry, and a lab science (physics is preferred). For students who may not have the recommended maths and sciences, additional work is available to assist the student in his/her academic pursuits.

Students presently taking the FAA certification in airframes and power plants are usually hired within days of program completion. The aviation industry is but one of the employers as some students choose related fields like aerospace and specialized fields such as ski-lift construction and amusement park construction and maintenance. In aviation alone the demand is expected to increase during the next few years as more cooperate jet aircrafts come into the market.
